Scholarship Winner: Juan Parra-Linares

Congratulations Juan Parra-Linares, from Northside High School!

For the third year in a row, Texas Mattress Makers is a proud sponsor of KPRC’s Senior Scholarship Program!

This week’s Senior Scholarship Winner is Juan Parra-Linares! We joined KPRC earlier this week to surprise Juan with a $2,500 scholarship. He is ranked 10th in his class at Northside High School.

Additionally, Juan balances his school work with working part time at a restaurant as a shift manager. Most recently he has even been interning at a local law firm. Juan said that learning to manage his time but that a program called Genesys Works helped him with training and developing professional skills. After graduation Juan plans on attending Sam Houston University to study criminal justice. We can’t wait to see what Juan achieves in the future! Congratulations and keep up the great work!

Senior Scholarship Winner: Nishat Nabi

KPRC2 Senior Scholarships

Congratulations Nishat Nabi, from Cypress Ranch High School!

For the third year in a row, Texas Mattress Makers is a proud sponsor of KPRC’s Senior Scholarship Program!

This week’s Senior Scholarship Winner is Nishat Nabi! Nishat was surprised with a $2,500 scholarship during one of her classes.

Nishat is a member of three honor societies in addition to her memberships on the Student Council and Key Club at Cypress Ranch High School. She moved to the United States just a few years ago from Bangladesh. However, even though it was hard for her to leave her friends and family, she’s making her community a better place through volunteering. Nishat mentors younger students and volunteers with the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation Fun Run. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Houston! We can’t wait to see what you achieve in the future, Isaiah! Congratulations and keep up the great work!

Snooze News Ep. 14: Giving Back

Texas Mattress Makers believes in giving back. We believe that positively impacting one life has the power to change the world

That’s why we partner with Houston Children’s Charity. Their Chariots for Children program provides special purpose vehicles used to deliver mobility freedom not otherwise available. The program is dedicated to providing specifically designed handicapped accessible vans to families and equipped transportation to organizations with a similar mission.  HCC has awarded 90 passenger vans, 74 handicapped accessible vehicles, 3 box trucks, 1 car and 2 vehicle modifications to 94 agencies and 73 individual families.

Tune-in to Episode 14 of SNOOZE NEWS to get an inside look at Young Houstonians for Houston Children’s Charity (YHHCC). This group is the premier Young Professional organization for Houston’s next generation of philanthropic leaders seeking to improve the quality of life of Houston’s underprivileged children. YHHCC members enjoy exclusive access to quarterly networking mixers, volunteer opportunities, and the chance to make an impact on Houston Children’s Charity’s (HCC) special children. Since 1996, HCC and its supporters have played an important role in improving the lives of more than 3.5 million local children.

Houston Children’s Charity is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Greater Houston’s underprivileged, abused and disabled children who have been otherwise left behind. The scope of our support is limited only by the availability of resources. Our goal is to leave no legitimate request for assistance unanswered.

Senior Scholarship Winner: Isaiah Osazuwa

KPRC2 Senior Scholarships

Congratulations, Isaiah Osazuwa, from Alief Taylor High School!

For the third year in a row, Texas Mattress Makers is a proud sponsor of KPRC’s Senior Scholarship Program!

Texas Mattress Makers joined KPRC earlier this week to surprise Isaiah Osazuwa with a $2,500 scholarship! But we weren’t the only ones joining in on the surprise! Isaiah’s family and the cheer team helped make the day extra special.

Isaiah is the Valedictorian as well as the Class Treasurer. But being number one in his class is just one of the amazing accomplishments for Isaiah though. He likes to be active in his student body government as well as local government. Isaiah recently completed an internship with the Mayor of Houston’s Office. He’s also active in both Orchestra and HOSA, a student program that promotes health in the community. After graduation, Isaiah has plenty of options – he’s been accepted into Columbia University, Rice University and the University of Texas. He hopes to study medicine so that he can become a doctor one day. We can’t wait to see what you achieve in the future, Isaiah! Congratulations and keep up the great work!

Senior Scholarship Winner: Ethan Song

KPRC2 Senior Scholarships

Congratulations Ethan Song, from Wisdom High School!

For the third year in a row, Texas Mattress Makers is a proud sponsor of KPRC’s Senior Scholarship Program!

Texas Mattress Makers joined KPRC earlier this week to surprise Ethan Song with a $2,500 scholarship in the middle of his AP Chemistry class! Ethan is a senior at Wisdom High School and class Valedictorian! He is also the President of the National Honor Society and serves as a tutor and mentor to his fellow classmates. Ethan says he owes his academic success to his 6th grade principal who encouraged him to compete in Mathematics. Ethan also received a perfect score in Math on his SAT’s. His current principal describes him as one of the most deserving students at his school and both his teachers and classmates agreed! Ethan mentioned MIT is high on his college list but he is still weighing his options. We can’t wait to see what you achieve in the future, Ethan! Congratulations and keep up the great work!

Senior Scholarship Winner: Patricia Crabtree

KPRC2 Senior Scholarships

Congratulations Patricia Crabtree, from Conroe High School!

For the third year in a row, Texas Mattress Makers is a proud sponsor of KPRC’s Senior Scholarship Program!

Texas Mattress Makers joined KPRC earlier this week to surprise Patricia Crabtree with a $2,500 scholarship! Patricia is a Conroe High School Senior and Physics Club President. In addition to excelling in academics, Patricia also plays both volleyball and soccer and sings in the choir at her school. Even though she’s still in high school, Patricia has a very extensive resume already. She has worked several jobs including at an eye clinic, as a lifeguard and swim instructor, plus she picks up babysitting opportunities any time she can. Patricia also volunteers with her church and school organizations like the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. She says that being a student athlete has taught her to prioritize school work and develop good study habits so she can spend time on the field. After graduation, Patricia plans to attend Texas A&M University and study biomedical sciences. We can’t wait to see what you achieve in the future, Patricia! Congratulations, Sebastian Aguirre from Cypress Woods High School!

For the third year in a row, Texas Mattress Makers is a proud sponsor of KPRC’s Senior Scholarship Program!

Sebastian Aguirre is a Senior at Cypress Woods High School and ranked 2nd in his class! Earlier this week we surprised him in class to award him with a $2,500 scholarship! In addition to academic success, Sebastian also has strong community values. He is a member of the Key Club, a student-lead community service organization and volunteers outside of school with his mom. He also volunteered after Hurricane Harvey and helped clean out homes that had been flooded. Sebastian has also been a part of a nano chemistry research program for Stanford University. After graduation, Sebastian plans on sticking with his passion and studying chemistry! We can’t wait to see what you achieve in the future! Congratulations and keep up the great work!

KPRC2 Senior Scholarships

Congratulations Fatmata Sesay, from Westbury High School!

For the third year in a row, Texas Mattress Makers is a proud sponsor of KPRC’s Senior Scholarship Program!

Fatmata Sesay is a Senior at Westbury High School and this week’s Senior Scholarship Program winner! Fatmata is ranked 10th in her class and values her education above all else. Our partners at KPRC helped us surprise her earlier this week to award her with a scholarship. On top of her accomplishments inside the classroom, Fatmata is also a PAIR Mentor – a program that helps refugee students just like her. Fatmata and her family are originally from Gambia. Attending school was a constant struggle for Fatmata prior to moving to the United States. She hopes to study medicine and become a doctor so she can help others. Fatmata has been accepted into Bryn Mawr College where she will attend next Fall Semester. We are honored to support students as amazing as Fatmata and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes in the future!

Senior Scholarship Winner: Alyssa Lopez

KPRC2 Senior Scholarships

Congratulations Alyssa Lopez, from B.F. Terry High School!

For the third year in a row, Texas Mattress Makers is a proud sponsor of KPRC’s Senior Scholarship Program!

Alyssa Lopez is a B.F. Terry High School Senior who has overcome a lot! Several years ago she and her family escaped a fire to their home just one year before a tornado impacted them as well. Alyssa remains driven for success and has remained an excellent student. She even excels in her roles as Senior Class President, National Honor Society Historian and Year Book Social Editor. Texas Mattress Makers and the KPRC Team surprised Alyssa earlier this week with a $2,500 scholarship! We are so honored to be able to award Alyssa for all of her hard work and perseverance. With this scholarship she plans to attend the University of Texas in Austin and pursue a degree in either Communications or Nursing. Either way, we know we can expect great things from Alyssa!

Senior Scholarship Winner: Scott Kesseler

Congratulations Scott Kesseler, from Bazoswood High School!

For the third year in a row, Texas Mattress Makers is proud to sponsor KPRC’s Senior Scholarship Program!

Scott Kesseler is a Brazoswood High School senior who is also a Drumline Captain and a member of the Goddard Rocket Team which recently presented a rocket design to NASA. Scott also spends his free time giving back to the community by volunteering with his local Rotary Club. He plans to attend Texas A&M University and study chemical engineering. We can’t wait to see what else you will accomplish, Scott!
