Top 5 Reasons You Should Buy a Mattress During Income Tax Season

Income tax season is upon us, and for many, this means we have a nice refund coming our way soon. Amid the bills and cost of living we all manage on a daily basis, this income tax refund is a welcome arrival. There are many things you could use a chunk of money towards to invest in yourself and your future. In this post, we discuss why a new mattress should be at the top of your Income Tax Refund wish list this year if you aren’t getting a good night’s sleep.

If you’re wondering if now is a good time to invest in a new bed, the solution to this question is simple. Just ask yourself: How did I sleep last night? How often am I getting deep, restful sleep? Do I wake up tired? If you aren’t satisfied with your answers to these questions, you should seriously consider investing in a new bed.

1. Better Sleep Means More Success

Most of us know that a good night’s sleep improves your cognitive skills. Your performance at work and school are both strongly tied to how well you slept the night before. According to a report conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration, fatigue was responsible for 88% of procedural errors. Getting the proper sleep your mind needs, enables you to work more efficiently so you can achieve your goals and get that next promotion you have been waiting for.

2. Sleep is Important for Your Health

We cannot overstate how important sleep is for your overall health. People who get a good night’s sleep tend to live longer and have less health concerns. Lack of sleep has even been linked to weight gain! Proper sleep has also been shown to be vital for heart health and proper functionality of your immune system.  Bottom line, getting the proper amount of zzz’s is tied to your immune system and your overall well-being.

3. Better Sleep Leads to a Happier Life

According to numerous studies, sleep and mood are closely connected. Poor or inadequate sleep can cause irritability and stress, while healthy sleep can enhance your overall mood. Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania found that subjects who were limited to 4.5 hours of sleep a night for one week reported feeling more stressed, angry, sad, and mentally exhausted. When the subjects resumed normal sleep, they reported a dramatic improvement in mood.

4. Your Relationships are Better When You Sleep Well

As we stated above, your overall mood and mental well-being is improved when you get the sleep you need. This has an understandably large impact on your personal relationships as well. Spouses with fewer sleep problems also tend to be happier. Relationship conflicts tend to be much worse when just one member of a couple is sleep-deprived.

5. Mattresses are an investment

You spend about one third of your life in bed.  That is an average of 25 years! If you can wrap your head around that quantity of time, you should conclude that your bed needs to be the type of place you really enjoy. Considering all the other aspects of your life that are affected by your sleep quality, a new bed just might do the trick to improve your health and happiness.

In conclusion, your sleep quality should be the very first investment you make with your income tax refund. It affects every important aspect of your life. Success, health, happiness, and even your relationships with the people you care about improve when you get a good night’s sleep. So, before you begin planning on your next big purchase with your tax refund in mind, you may want to ask yourself: How did I sleep last night?
